To start at the beginning, I should explain exactly how I began this incrediably, addictive, mysterious endeavor.
The wonderful young couple in the picture was my maternal grandparents, Marjorie Jean Utley and Richard "Jr" Davis of Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana.
Family Circle magazine had a beautiful Family Tree insert. I was determined to fill in the blanks, frame it, and shazam! My very own heirloom to someday pass down to my children! Sounded easy! One visit to have "Marge" (My Grandmother did not allow us to call her anything but Mom or Marge) help me fill it out, no biggy! I know some of you experienced researchers are saying to yourselves, "Ya right!", YOUR right. I had opened Pandoras Box and then some! The skeletons were rattlin and a rollin and have never stopped since. And so, it began - my research led to uncovering, much to my Grandmothers dissappointment a few things she had no intentions of sharing! By the way, I immediately apologized and only continued with her blessing of course.
I have encountered all sorts of issues researching and decided blogging about my experiences may help someone else who has caught the bug or may help someone researching the same famlies...So good luck everyone, follow me to catch my blogs I hope to fill full of helpful tips or maybe a bite or two about an ancestor!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
